A New You

I keep thinking about a man I knew years ago who’s life was spinning out of control. He lived in a constant party environment. Always looking for the latest and greatest place to party and live it up. Unable to have a meaningful relationship because woman we’re meant to be used. Always finding himself in the wrong place at the wrong time. Always telling himself that this will be the last time He will drink this much only to find himself addicted to that same rush over and over.

Thankfully, he had a family that loved him and believed in him beyond this crazy lifestyle. That family was mine. That life that was spinning out of control was mine.

What happened? I discovered a new life in Jesus. I know it sounds to simple. But that’s what happened to me. I was that healed blind man in the bible who told those that didn’t believe Jesus cured him, “I was blind but now I see!  What more can I tell you.”

Imagine what it would be like to erase your past and start new. Imagine what it would be like to start over. Imagine what it would be like to be blind and now you can see. That’s what its like when you experience the new life Jesus promises us.  2 Corinthians 5:17 says:

“anyone who belongs to Christ has become a new person. The old life is gone; a new life has begun!”

The Gospel offers forgiveness for the past, new life for the present, and hope for the future.

This not figurative or some cute religious saying. This is real. He gave me a new life. Not a renovated one. Not one with a few new accessories. Not one with a new life air freshener. I’m living proof.

When I came to the end of my broken self, I found a loving Jesus who didn’t judge me based on my sins. He didn’t give me a laundry list of wrong things I’ve done.  I found a compassionate Jesus who new exactly how to get me out the mess I had created.

Then He introduced me to the new life He had for me.

One filled with adventure to replace the adventure I thought I was living.

One filled with purpose to replace a purpose less life.

One filled with fulfillment that I couldn’t find in the latest and greatest bar.

One filled with true Joy that couldn’t be found in a bottle.

Don’t wait another minute if you haven’t discovered this new Life. Where ever you are right now, simply ask Jesus to come into your heart like I did. Receive His love for you. Then let him introduce you to the new plans he has for you. Trust me, they will be better than anything you can imagine.
